The Maruti Suzuki Fronx has become a standout in the Indian automotive market. In February 2025, it topped the sales charts with 21,461 units sold, marking a 51.48% increase from February 2024's 14,168 units.

This surge highlights its growing popularity among car buyers.

Maruti Suzuki is reportedly planning to enhance the Fronx's appeal by introducing a hybrid variant. This new model is anticipated to hit the market by the end of 2025, drawing interest from both Fronx fans and those seeking high fuel efficiency.

The current Fronx offers two engine choices: a 1.0-liter turbo Boosterjet petrol engine and a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine. Both engines come with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The first engine provides a mileage of 20.01 km/liter to 21.5 km/liter, while the second offers between 21.79 km/liter and 22.89 km/liter.

With the hybrid version, Maruti Suzuki aims to push these figures even higher. The hybrid Fronx is expected to deliver an impressive mileage of 28 km/liter to 30 km/liter, making it an attractive option for those prioritising fuel efficiency.

The Fronx is not just about mileage; it also boasts premium features that enhance its appeal. It includes a 9-inch HD infotainment system with SmartPlay Pro Plus and fingerprint recognition. Additionally, it offers a wireless charger, heads-up display, and connectivity for smartphones and smartwatches.

These features contribute significantly to its popularity, making it a preferred choice among compact crossover SUVs in India.

Future Prospects

If the hybrid version achieves its projected mileage figures, it could potentially double the current sales figures of the Fronx. Such performance would likely lead to record-breaking sales numbers for Maruti Suzuki.

While the exact launch date for the hybrid model remains undisclosed, speculation suggests it might coincide with a holiday, possibly around August 15th.

The introduction of a hybrid variant is expected to further solidify the Fronx's position in the market, appealing to both existing fans and new customers seeking advanced technology and efficiency.
