According to the Nigeria Disease Control Center (NCDC), the first case of the disease came up in October last year. Currently, the situation is that the disease has spread to 23 out of 36 states in Nigeria. So far this year, a total of 74 people have died, which is about half of the total dead.
NCDC spokesperson Sani Datti said that the main cause of most of the deaths due to the disease is that the infected persons could not reach health centers for timely treatment or they delayed treatment. Currently, this outbreak has engulfed Africa's most populous country.
